There's no reason you can't plant a live tree, plant it close to your
house. There are hundres of Dwarf Conifer varieties, many make
perfect Christmas trees... I've planted some as foundation plantings.

I plantedd it 15 years ago was about 24", and it's now about 4' tall.
You may love it as I do but there are many more to chose from, you
have no excuse. This is a beauty, hummingbirds built a nest in
mine... as you can see it's planted right next to my house, right in
the front corner, a perfect spot to decorate with the new LEDs:
