Yes, if I pronounced it correctly here, folks would think I am a pompous a--. In speaking to someone from another country, I would attempt the correct way.
Funny thing, there is s moving company here in the SFBA with vans that have Van Go emblazoned on their sides. That should tell you how we pronounce it 😊
