It usually refers to kinky hair, not necessarily dreds. To me, nappy is the
the texture of material like corduroy, which I know is not really referring
to the nap of a material, it's just my way of describing it, but if I used
it like nappy headed, it would be disrespectful and I would definitely know
it.
