It wasn't a dumb question to me! I'm sure that both of my grandmas were very
familiar with cream. Maternal lived on a farm and often made her own butter
and ice cream. Paternal grew up on a dairy farm.
As a child, I can only ever recall having cream in the house once. I asked
for it to make butter. My mom wasn't much of a cook and never made anything
with cream. And most of the time, the milk that we had was powdered.
I tend to eat more whole foods for myself like beans, rice and vegetables.
So cream in any form is not something I ever dealt with much.
