It depends which stone fruit (s) and variety. Here Bing cherries come
first in June, followed by apricots in July then peaches (peaches will
go all the way through Sept.) and then come nectarines in late August
and the begins apples..
I used to go to the ranches in sequence and buy a bushel of whatever
was in season. It's good that you appreciate the stuff that doesn't
have you standing over the kitchen sink with juice running down your
wrists, elbows and chin.
