Dinner tonight
D got a flank steak in the used meat section of the grocery. She also
picked up a chunk of salmon, some asparagus, a couple of yellow
squash, and some broccoli.
I halved the flank steak (big un) and stashed the fish and broccoli
for another night. Half the steak got frozen. The other half got
scored and marinated in lemon juice, dark soy sauce, laos powder, and
Tabasco. I quartered a red potato, tossed it in olive oil and smoked
paprika and salt. Stuffed it into the oven to bake and turned to the
veggies. I tossed the asparagus with lemon juice and dark soy and
olive oil. Trimmed and halved the squash and gave them the same
treatment.
Then I fired up the grill. I bought a new one, by the way, a Char
Broil with brass burners, and a lifetime guarentee. Lowes had them on
sale. The asparagus got the grill topper treatment and the squash
went nearby on the grill itself. When they were done, I pulled them
off and set the steak on. I made a sauce from minced Indian lime
pickle, olive oil, lemon juice and Dijon mustard. I pulled the meat
off when it was medium rare (judging by the pressure test) and let it
rest.
The veggies got plated, the meat got sliced thin and lightly dressed
with the sauce. Presently, I got full.
