Yeah, I know.

Popeye buys bread to use as follows:

He cuts off the crust and throws it out his windows (with all his other
refuse).

Then he rolls the bread into little tightly compacted balls ... some
small, and some larger.

The small ones are used to stuff in his ears and nostrils.

I'll refrain from revealing the fate of the larger balls.
