I could live with an artificial tree but my wife insists on a real one.
She always wins that one.

We picked up our tree today, a 7 foot Fraser fir. There were pine trees
being sold there. Pine trees may be grown for lumber, but they are also
grown specifically for Christmas trees, which is probably more
profitable than lumber. They are ready to harvest in a few years and
need only a little pruning to develop a conical shape.
