No kidding. "Vegetarian" comes in many different flavors, allowing for a

LOL.. some people will go to extremes just to be able to call themselves
"vegetarian". "Is that lacto-veg, ova-lacto-veg, vegan, or just what, may I
ask?????" Oh, marino-veg?? Gadz! I hope I haven't just coined another
one!
I used to be strictly raw-foodist, then fruitarian (largely out of
necessity----no refrigeration, power or propane and VERY far from a market),
so don't get me wrong here. But, indeed the term "vegetarian" can be
ambiguous, depending on who is willing to stretch it. But vegans are pretty
unbending, as a rule.
