The assumption is these "furloughed" employees and their families have
savings to fall back on. I doubt that is the case with a lot of them.
Even if the bank or landlord lets them slide on a few payments or offers
zero interest loans, the money will still have to be paid back. That
will keep them scrambling to catch up on payments when this mess is
finally over.
