Have you not heard that some people get their kids/girlfriend a
cute puppy or kitten for Christmas? Who knew that baby pets get bigger,
need housetraining, spaying, excercise, attention, lots of food,
vaccinations etc. By autumn shelters are full of unwanted Xmas pets.

Oh yes they do; and they also dump dogs. Saves kenneling them while
on holiday. Boarding kennels also require pets to be vaccinated; just
dumping it saves hundreds of pounds.

Shelters do ask questions; and the ones here all request a donation
for food and admin. It's cheaper and less hassle for irresponsible owners
to dump anonymously at the roadside.

We used to live in a tourist destination where pets dumped at the
roadside were annual signs of spring and summer.
