Vexnet is the name of the group of servers. Somewhat like usenet is a group
of newsgroups. And irc3.penguinpowered.ca is kinda like the news server.
Once connected to irc3.penguinpowered.ca. The command
required is "/Join #Rec.Food.Cooking". Make note of the / and the #
the / is used at the start of a line to indicate the start of a command.
The # is used to indicate the start of a Channel name. The periods in
#Rec.Food.Cooking are only required for spelling reasons.

If irc3.penguinpowered.ca doesn't connect after say 6 or 7 tries, Try to
irc5.penguinpowered.ca.

There are a host of other commands some nice to know. Like the /Nick
command. The Syntax for the /Nick command is /Nick nickname. Where nickname
is the handle you want to represent you. like the /List command. Before
connecting to any IRC network and channel I suggest you read up on the
commands and your IRC client. mIRC has many shortcuts you can
immplement...look-up aliases and popups in the help feature and get
familiar with a script editor.

Another feature is If you type "irc://irc3.penguinpowered.ca" into windows
browser you are taken to the connect screen of mIRC.
