Leo's ginger ale, and everybody else's

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 oh, say 4 inch ginger knob peeled and coined
8 oz. carbonated water

boil up first three ingredients until reduced by half, put liquid in a
cup and refrigerate.

Serve 2 tablespoons ginger concentrate in carbonated water. If too
sweet, dial back. If not too sweet, add more.
