The broomstick only works with certain kinds.

I think I discovered the cause of the bowl breaking.

As I was headed into my bedroom for the night, I heard a weird noise. I went
into the kitchen and saw the burner on. He put something in the deep sauté
pan, put a glass mixing bowl over it and a lid over that.

When I told him he couldn't do that, he reasoned that it was Pyrex. That
dish actually was. The one that broke was a cheap, off brand. At any rate, I
think the only glass that can be used over direct heat is a special type.
