Not in the least. Unless you are dead you can spot/sense when someone is
too close to your back whether wearing a backpack purse or just a regular
purse hanging on your arm.

Would I wear this type of purse in the middle of New York City, Chicago,
Atlanta, Memphis, etc.? No. If I were vacationing in any of those cities
I'd be wearing a fanny pack. But when I'm at the grocery store I'll hear
it announced over the intercom at least once per trip "Do not leave your
purse or billfold unattended." I'll see at least a half dozen purses
plopped in the child seat section of a grocery cart and the shopper has
stepped away to gaze at something on a shelf. Completely oblivious.
