When I said rain water is clean, I meant after it's rained for
a bit. After an hour or so, the rain should clear out the
airborne contaminates and be fine.

If collecting it from a roof, would be nice to cap the cistern
for an hour or so and let it rinse off the roof, then open
to fill the cistern.

I would still want to treat the cistern water occasionally
because it just sits there and can stagnate and a perfect
environment for the little earthlings to flourish.
