I use the fat from frying pork chops for refried beans, and I use
canned black beans with the liquid and mash until the liquid reduces
leaving the mashed beans at the right consistancy. I can't imagine
using Crisco. I have a one pound can of Crisco in the fridge, used to
grease muffin tins for corn muffins... a one pound tin of Crisco lasts
me about ten years.
