Well, that is their problem for choosing to be offended. Mentally
retarded was a perfectly acceptable term that described their cognitive
ability. Unfortunately, every time they had a label for degrees of
mental ability it would eventually become a pejorative. Before that they
had labeled them as idiots, simpletons and moron.


Mentally was only recently officially replaced by mental disability.
Mark my words. It won't be long before mental disability becomes a
pejorative and they will have to come up with a new label for mentally
retarded.
