Let me tell you, I have no idea what's the best way to archive data these days. It's certainly not optical drives and magnetic drives or any mechanical drives. A short while ago, optical drives were thought to be a good choice for long term storage. I got a bunch of CDs and DVDs in folders. My guess is that most of the disks are unreadable now. That don't matter much since I don't have any optical drives anyway.
