Plus Walmart also employs many local people, several of our neighbors
have very good jobs at Walmart. We shop at the nearest Walmart even
though it's a 15 mile trip one way, however there are other stores
near there that we shop on the same trip, it's a win win. And these
days we do a lot of shopping on line, more convenient and lower
prices. For most shopping no store beats Amazon. Mainly we buy our
fresh meat and produce at the Tops Market in town, they have excellent
quality and I much prefer choosing my own meats and produce. For
canned and packaged goods Amazon has the best prices, and every thing
for pets no one beats Chewy. Occasionally I'll buy an item from the
Tops weekly circular but has to be at a good price, Yesterday 4 lbs of
Domino sugar was $2.49 and we needed sugar so I bought it, will
probably last us five years, we use very little, I'll add a tsp to my
homemade salad dressing to balance the vinegar. We don't like bottled
salad dressing, too much sugar and salt and other chems,
generally not very good, plus it's expensive, mostly the high price is
for the bottle. I can mix up a pint of Italian style salad dressing
in under 3 minutes. Sometimes rather than vinegar I'll use the juice
of a whole fresh lemon. We buy lemons by the 2 lb bag, after
squeezing for juice the rind goes in a tall glass and stays in the
fridge till after dinner when I make my Crystal Palace vodka and
Sprite. Later the rind goes out my window for a lucky doe. Deer love
citrus rinds and banana peels. Whatever fruit and veggie parings I
put out are gone by early morning. During winter I see their foot
prints in the snow. Other critters eat meat trimmings, possums and
skunks eat all the meat trimmings I put out. Meats always have too
much fat, the critters enjoy it more than our trash can does. Crows
love the fat too.
