I buy the uncut loaves of Italian bread baked fresh at the local
supermarket. They cost $1.70 and are smaller, but taste far better than
generic bread. However, when grilled into a sandwich or french toast,
unless you want something more sturdy, it really doesn't make a
difference. Also, of course, for breadcrumbs or dressing/stuffing.
