There was another guy I worked with who was on light duty because he had
fibromyalgia. When he showed up for work he spend an hour or two
sleeping... too much pain to work. One Monday he came in all bruised
and especially sore. He had been helping a friend with a concrete job
and the power trowel got away from him. Too much pain to do his
clerical job Monday to Friday but on Saturday he could do heavy
construction work.

There are always pikers who will abuse benefits. They should not have to
come in if they are legitimately sick. They cannot be expected to
perform well. There is always the risk of them infecting others. One
coworker was notorious for using up all his sick leave by the end of
March. Then he would use his vacation time, and when that was used up he
would take unpaid time off. Then when he had used up everything and
could not afford anymore unpaid leave he would come to work sick.
