There was a time all those shots were required for living outside the
US, too. When we lived in Bankok when I was a child I had to get a ton
of shots (and booster shots for some every six months). And again
coming back. No one wants anyone to continue to be able to catch and
transmit diseases simply by travel. Covid-19 is a tricky thing because
it keeps changing. No one actually knows how well the available
vaccines will work yet.
I do hope you'll be able to come back and be with your family in the
States soon.
