I have thick stalks to deal with, so that is why the cheap string
trimmers are unacceptable for the job. I have about an acre of property
to deal with. There are a couple dozen trees, about 150 feet of stone
wall, a kennel, a shed, and a barn to trim around. Then there are two
streams/drainage ditches to do. It is usually too wet to get into clean
them out in the spring, and by the time it is dry enough the stuff is
pretty thick.

Small electric or battery powered trimmers might be enough for the
average house, but they can't handle what I had to deal with.
