Dunkin Donuts is going head-to-head with Starbucks in the fancy coffee
biz, but they're trying to keep the price down. In the DD stores that
have been outfitted with the new espresso drink machines and menus, DD
undercuts Starbuck's prices by quite a bit. They probably had a focus
group or two that identified the tip cups (and screwy drink menus) at
Starbucks as a major turn-off, and decided to put the word out to the
troops that DD is not just another Starbucks clone, so lose the tip
jars...NOW!
