I've been waiting for this since the last time the Sox played the Cardinals
in 1967. My parents have been waiting since before the Sox played the Cards
in 1946. I imagine that it is hard for people who didn't grow up in Boston
to understand what it's been like to be a Red Sox fan over the years.

My grandmother died not long after the Red Sox played the Mets in 1986. The
last thing I told my grandmother while she was still coherent was that it
looked like the Red Sox were finally going to win the series after winning
the first two games in New York. She smiled.

I'm thrilled! I just wish I was in Boston right now. I should have planned a
visit for this week.
