Well, I can tell you, I spent 2 days (they soaked for about 18 hours) making
Boston baked beans from scratch.
And they were good. No question.
But honestly, I can't say they were better than canned. They weren't quite
so mushy as canned, but they weren't better enough to spend 2 days making
them! They were in the crockpot at 9am. at 4pm, they were still too watery,
so I poured them into a stoneware casserole and baked them for 2 hours.
I still have leftovers, too. That reminds me....I can have that for lunch!
Just finished watching the "Rolling Rally" (aka a parade) from Boston. New
England Cable News carried it, and luckily my cable system gives us that
channel. I wish we got NESN (New England Sports Network) but I know that
will never happen. Anyway, it was fun watching all the loonies in the
streets of Boston and along the Charles, braving the cold and rain to catch
a glimpse of their heroes.
The spontaneous chants of "Yankees Suck" cracked me up!!!!
