It is our first year in a large house. We have two ovens, and a
fireplace, so we are having the big shin-dig at our place for the
first time. I took Wednesday off to prepare for the chaos.

I forgot what appetisers we are looking into, but we were also
thinking about a pumpkin bisque served in a (warmed) small pumpkin.

For a salads, we will have a cranberry waldorf salad, served in
radichio leaves, and also a green salad with poppy seed vinagrette.

For the meal, we will have a turkey with some kind of dressing. The
exact kind of dressing is up in the air, but it will be home-made.
Cranberries, Chestnuts (roasted on the fire) and the such are the
starting ideas. There is a fresh poultry farm not too far away, so we
should have a fresh (never frozen) bird. I'll review the brining info
on google.

Also, there will be a pan gravy.

Succotash, pan fried in butter.

I was also thinking about doing a potato gratin, but I'm sure many
people expect mashed potatoes, so maybe both.

Cranberry sauce with orange and ginger.

Glazed or creamed pearl onions.

Fresh bread and/or rolls.

Herbed butter.

We will have one dessert, and other people will help out with others.

Also before and after, there will be a cheese and relish platter. I
may need to raid Jungle Jim's for this, but that is never a hassle.

And since I'm going to Jim's, I just have to pick up a few bottles of
wine. Life is rough sometimes.

So, now all I need is a good recipe for glazed or creamed onions.
