My chargers stay under the plate. I love the look of a double plate and if
I'm not serving full capacity at my dining room table I do use them -
otherwise I don't have enough room for them as they are larger than the
plate that goes on top of it and the table gets too crowded.
They're especially nice under big pasta bowls.
I use chargers that are the same color as my plates - this is the set I've
had for years from Fishs Eddy. They call it whiteware but it's really more
of a cream or off-white.
