One of my neighbours used to have an annual "turkey" shoot. We shot at clay
pigeons and the prize was a glass turkey (a 40 oz. bottle of whiskey). It
was a lot of fun. My favourite was the year some gun nut showed up with his
$5000 custom made and under with vented rib. He scoffed at my inexpensive
Czech side by side double barrel and scorned my Canadian Tire store brand
12 gauge shells. He hand loaded all his own shells so that he knew exactly
what was in them and made a comment that CT shells are unreliable. I
always figured that the most important thing about a shotgun was the fit
and the choke, and any shell that goes bang when you pull the trigger and
throws the right sized shot for the job will do the trick.
I won the glass turkey that day. He came in 5th. :-)
