Whale Rider was filmed on the East Coast of NZ, north of Gisborne, a wine
region noted for two varieties - Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer.

However, in the recently competed Air New Zealand Wine Awards, a small
Gisborne winery stunned the Marlborough producers by winning the trophy for
the champion Sauvignon Blanc.

Amor-Bendall "Limited Edition" Sauvignon Blanc 2004 is a single vineyard
wine made in miniscule quantities. Rich, pungent, herbal but with nuances of
tropical fruits (passionfruit and pineapple).

To those in the know, this one out-Pallisers Palliser Estate SB.

Should be quite a good match with whale meat too - served raw of course!!!
