Every Christmas I see Hickory Farms kiosks pop up in all the local malls. The stuff
sits out on their shelves without refrigeration. There are a number of
organizations that sell that stuff for fundraisers, and they don't worry about
refrigeration, so I wouldn't worry about it.
My father was always impossible to buy for. He never seemed to like anything we
bought him. One year I decided to get something ridiculous for him, figuring he was
just going to complain about it. I got him some model airplanes. He loved them. He
went out and got the paints and sheets of decals and spent hours and hours putting
them together and painting and putting on the markings of his old air force
squadrons.
