I've played slide guitar for a long time. Years ago I decided to start
fronting my own band, or play solo, so that I could play exactly what I
wanted. When I was preparing the set list for the first gig of my own band I
ended up with three sets of thirteen songs each. After I had the set list
together I counted the Elmore James songs and there were thirteen in total.
So 1/3 of the songs I chose were Elmore songs. I probably listen to Elmore
James as much as anybody in that style, except maybe Hound Dog Taylor. Of
the electric players Wolf, Elmore, Muddy and Hound Dog Taylor are probably
my favorites.
