That's funny... My experience is the exact opposite.
A guy used to bring KKs from a KK on his way into the city from NJ.
They were the small kind--which I prefer since you can eat different
types without eating a lot. When KKs began selling in gas station
quick-marts THOSE were full sized donuts and cost $9.00 a dozen. Which
I think is too much.

Obviously, fresh and hot are always better.

I like the plain glazed(very light dough) and the white-cream filled
ones with chocolate icing.

They are overly sweet which is their charm and the turn off for many
people.
