I melt semisweet chocolate chips all the time and dip stuff in it. OK,
it doesn't come out absolutely shiny, but it's still a beautiful dark
chocolate color, and I've never heard any complaints about the color,
and none about the taste, either. Sometimes I mix a little butter or
peanut butter or heavy cream in it, depending on what I want.
If you gotta have the shiny tempered look, then go for it. Personally,
I think it's a lot trouble for a little gain in looks and zero gain in
taste.
