Probably not, although I remember SF as being considerably warmer most
of the year than much of the UK. If you don't need air conditioning
during the majority of the summer then an Aga should be fine. They can
be regulated to some extent. The newer gas and electric versions don't
need to be on all the time.
Remember that in the past, in San Francisco, solid fuel kitchen ranges
were kept burning all year round. Opening a window would have sufficed
for cooling.
