Default Deep Fried Turkey...

Number 1.

One thing that must be done is to get a measurement of how much oil you'll need
in your vessel because of displacement. Two women were recently badly burned
because they filled their vessel with oil, turned it on, and then when it was
hot they added the turkey and hot, bubbling oil spilled out over the top
because there was too much oil.

Put the turkey in the vessel first and add water to cover it. Then take the
turkey out and make note or mark somehow where the level of water is without
the turkey - that level or slightly more is the amount of oil you should put in
the fryer.
