Not getting wet and scolding you can be an asset. You gotta hate when the pot
holder gets wet and you don't realize it until you get scolded by the thing that
is supposed to be protecting you form the heat.

My worst experience with a pot holder came early in my pursuit of cooking. I
went to get something hot out of the oven and used the pot holders that my wife
had been given by one of her students. I don't know what idiot came up with the
idea of making pot holders out of Phentex. It melts, and then it sticks to your
burned fingers. It makes as much sense as putting gasoline in a fire
extinguisher.
