Those are so fun! Sounds like you had a great assortment, too! The ladies in
my neighborhood have a cookie party every year. I always make spritz cookies -
they're easy and attractive for the holidays. One of ladies makes just awesome
springerle(sp) but she won't part with her secret! (dammit) I have her recipe
but it just never turns out as fluffy and soft while retaining the imprint of
the design like hers do. The recipe I used for years was my German
grandmother's but it makes a very hard- almost like hardtack- cookie. My dad
loves them though and says they're gnawing cookies. I think they're more like
anise teething biscuits, myself *laughs*.
