Hindsight being 20/20, I was a newlywed when my grandmother broke up
housekeeping to live with my parents. She offered me her set of
Magnalite pots and pans. Being *young* and *stupid*, I didn't want
such an old fashioned set of pots and pans and opted for <shudder> a
brand new set of Club Aluminum. Yeah, boy, those puppies stood the
test of time, all right.

(Dear Nana: I was an idiot and I will eternally regret not accepting
your offer...)

I was bright enough to get the circa 1910 Noritake service for 24
china, however. Well, maybe "bright" is an overstatement, as it's
handpainted with gilt and has to be hand washed. Just ask my "kitchen
help" how much they liked the set after Christmas dinner.
