Rule #0 is to carry enough stuff in the car that you can
cover up and survive with the engine off or only on now
and then. I have a hard time convincing my kids of the
necessity of this, since people don't die on the road
very often. It does happen, though. On the up side,
we never have mudslides and earthquakes, and we haven't
been hit by a sizeable asteroid in I don't know how long.

As for keeping the riffraff out, that's only to be
mentioned to other Minnesotans. Others should delete
that message.

Actually it wasn't that cold in the Minneapolis area.
A couple days where it hit around -20 at night. Only
three of our four cars didn't start (well, actually
one was in Duluth and the another was user error).
