I think that the vociferous responses to dug88 were, in large measure,
due to a spate of top posting newbies who contributed little or nothing
other than to whine about being told that top posting in this ng is
considered rude. AFAIAC, if personal posting style is more important to
a poster than adapting to newsgroup norms and participating in on topic
discussions, then that poster gets what they deserve.

I do think that top posting newbies should be tolerated until they react
to gentle correction. Their reaction should dictate how they are treated.
