I use an egg slicer for eggs, mushrooms, butter, soft cheese, cooked
carrots -- anything that isn't too hard or stringy. But I didn't even buy
one until I saw AB mentioning the myriad ways they could be used.
(For future reference, the sure-fire way to tell if I'm bragging is if I
write, "Nyah nyah nyah!")
