Some lovely person had a cook-in in SF years ago in a one bedroom
apartment with a kitchen the size of a large closet. It worked.

I had a big kitchen and deck in those days but didn't want to host a
cook-in in my home, so I rented (for $20) a picnic spot in a park in
Berkeley and had an outdoor cook-in. People brought stuff to grill, Ray
built a fire in the enormous fireplace, there were extra grills and
cookers of all sorts. I didn't organize any of that, just rented the
picnic spot and publicized the date online. Folks flew in from
Washington State and Utah to attend. That was 1998.
