I looked *everywhere* in SoCal for pot barley, b/c I read that pot
barley doesn't get mushy in soup, etc., like pearl barley does. Left
no stone unturned: Von's (Pavilions), Ralph's, Trader Joe's, Gelson's
Henry's Market, Mother's Market and Bristol Farms. Even tried Surly
Table and William Sonoma. Then tried the small gourmet shops:
International Food Market, Everyday Gourmet Food Co., Laguna Gourmet
Food Gallery. Could not find pot barley. Hit the internet. You know
how hard it is to find pot barley?? HA?? Finally found a source in
Richmond, BC (Galloway's Specialty Foods:
http://www.gallowaysfoods.com/, in case you're interested) and ordered
some.
Some? Did I say, "Some"?? I don't know how I managed it, but I ordered
25 lbs. of the stuff. I won't be able to go through this bag of barley
in my *lifetime*
(Note to self: do not *ever* order anything online after 2 (or 3)
glasses of wine.)
(Note to SoCal cookin group: bring Tupperware.)
Terry "Squeaks" Pulliam Burd...this pot barley better be the real deal

"If the soup had been as hot as the claret, if the claret had been as
old as the bird, and if the bird's breasts had been as full as the
waitress's, it would have been a very good dinner."
