OK, I went for it, against my better judgement. Received 3
confirmation emails from Clickgate and one from Individual.net,
assuring me that all is well. I spent several years searching out
free usenet servers. It was OK, except that every so often, the one I
was using would disappear and the search would be on again, screwing
up my newsreader with thousands of old posts. NIN isn't the best
place in the world, doesn't carry all the newsgroups. But my
experience over the last couple of years is that it's fast, reliable
(even when run as a volunteer venture) and it carries the few groups I
WANT. So, today, the euro translated to $13.55 US for a year of
service. Not exactly something to lose sleep over. And if you click
"United States" to start, you end up (although you won't realize it at
the time) dealing with Clickgate International, a firm in New York
City, New York. YMMV.
