Plain old blue box macaroni and cheese (Kraft or otherwise) makes a
pretty good base for skillet casseroles, and it's at least $1 cheaper
than Hamburger HelperŪ. Add the dried noodles and the cheeze powder to
the browned and drained pound of hamburger meat and some sauteed onions.
Add 3 cups of water and a pinch of cayenne. Cook, covered, until the
noodles absorb all the liquid. (stir occasionally.) Stir in some
frozen peas or whatever, and grate some real cheese over the top.

It also works with chopped leftover chicken and lots of chopped vegetables.
