I live in California, which passed a ban on assault rifles. Problem was,
they couldn't define what they were. I think that they gave up, and just
specified model numbers and a picture of each one. Once the manufacturer
changed the model number and some minor cosmetic feature, it was no longer
an assault rifle by law.
