In case you are being serious, they are called binary because people post
their pictures of their dishes (well, in ABF, anyways) and pictures are in
binary form as opposed to text form.
Example:
Text: "MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB"
Binary: "01011011110110101101011011111011100001101"
Binary files are also a heck of lot bigger since the file is creating a
picture so uses up a lot more space and bandwidth.
