I bought a box of Barilla Plus spaghetti at Ralphs for $1.99. The
pasta is made from legumes, chickpeas, eggwhites, along with the main
ingredient: semolina (the same ingredient in white pasta). Each
serving contains 4 grams of fiber and 7 grams of high quality protein.
(read somewhere around .88/1.00)
I heated a pan and drizzled in some olive oil, a lot of minced garlic,
and two salmon filets. After browning the salmon in the garlic/oil, I
covered it in Tony's Spicy spaghetti seasoning (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED).
Then I browned it a little more and dumped in Bertolini's Vodka Cream
Sauce.
You cannot really taste or feel (texture) the difference in Barilla
Plus compared with regular pasta. After all, the pasta is made up
mainly of semolina with added ingredients to boost protein and fiber.
Same calorie count as regular pasta. I wouldn't say this pasta is a
healthy thing to eat, but I would say it's better than eating white
pasta.
Unfortunately, my sauce was so good that I ate two bowls of pasta and a
bowl of leftovers for lunch.....
